Countdown to Compliance: Understanding the CMMC 2.0 Rollout

by Kumar Sivan,Chris Silvers published on October 17, 2025

The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) is the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) comprehensive framework for safeguarding Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB). Its scope extends beyond traditional defense contractors, and organizations within or adjacent to the defense supply chain may soon find compliance a contractual requirement.

With the phased rollout of CMMC 2.0 now underway—following the July submission of the 48 CFR to the Office of Management and Budget and its anticipated October launch—this webinar recording explores what these changes mean and how to prepare.

Presented by Chris Silvers, CISSP, MBA (CG Silvers Consulting), and Kumar Sivan, Senior Consultant at Omnex, this session walks viewers through the essentials of CMMC 2.0. It traces the evolution of DoD cybersecurity requirements, from early initiatives to the influence of the 9/11 Commission Report, setting the stage for today’s compliance landscape.

Attendees will gain practical insights into key components of the model, helping them understand its relevance and potential impact. Designed as a starting point for Omnex clients, this session provides actionable guidance on assessing readiness and taking initial steps toward compliance—empowering organizations to position themselves for success as the rollout progresses.
