Auditing IATF 16949: MSA and SPC
In December 2021, the IATF released Communique 2021-012 concerning new auditor training. It requires all new auditor candidates to demonstrate Successful Completion of mandatory pre-study modules before being accepted into a New Auditor Training Event. These modules include Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plan, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC). This new IATF requirement is likely the result of problems created by organizations that do not effectively implement the FMEA and Control Plan, MSA, and SPC Guidelines. Such problems are not likely to be corrected if there is an ineffective management system or process auditing.
